Flowers bloom beautifully and give us positive energy. After they finish their fleeting lives, they decay, decompose, and return to the earth, following the natural law of the earth's circulation. Few may experience this cycle in urban systems where inconveniences tend to be hidden. However, decay and decomposition occur due to the vital activities of organisms that are too small to see, and these are sacred steps.
When we experience these phenomena unfold in front of our eyes, do they change the world we perceive? Can we regain some senses that we are living organisms too?
Flower Compost expresses the process of "circulation" that quietly exists in our daily life but is difficult to identify unless we try to focus on it. Flower Compost is a unique artwork attracting attention for its continuous change, achieved through visualizing the decay of beautifully blooming flowers and their gradual decomposition by microorganisms.
The exhibited Flower Compost was created by using materials that would normally be discarded, such as inventory losses at the SOCIALIZING FLOWER MARKET, flowers that were not fit to be put on store shelves, as well as stems and leaves that were not used for flower arrangements. Flower Compost was completed after several months of transformation, and it is planned to be used as fertilizer for the plantings at TRUNK (hotel). What should have been discarded can become fertilizer, and new life is born from it. "Circulation" continues at TRUNK (hotel).
We hope you can direct your imagination to things you don't normally pay attention to through this work, realizing the importance of seemingly ordinary and small matters.

美しく咲き誇り、私たちに元気をくれるお花たち。花たちが儚い生を終えたとき、本来ならば地球の循環のルールに従って腐敗、分解されて土に還っていきます。不都合を隠しがちな都市システムの中では、その営みを感じることは少ないけれど、腐敗や分解は目には見えない生物たちの生命活動によるもので、神聖なステップです。
目の前でその現象をありありと感じたとき、私たちが知覚している世界に変化はうまれるだろうか。生物としての感覚をすこし取り戻すことができるのだろうか。
日常の中に密かに存在しながら、意識しないと実感しがたい「循環」の過程を表現する「フラワーコンポスト」。「フラワーコンポスト」は美しく咲いた花が朽ち、次第に微生物によって分解される姿を可視化し、絶えず変化し続けるユニークなアート作品として、注目されています。
展示された「フラワーコンポスト」は、「SOCIALIZING FLOWER MARKET」で発生した在庫のロスをはじめ、店頭に出すことのできなかったお花や装花に使われなかった茎や葉など、本来廃棄されてしまう素材を利用して誕生したものです。数ヶ月間の変化を経て出来上がった「フラワーコンポスト」は、TRUNK(HOTEL)の植栽の肥料として活用される予定です。廃棄されるはずだったものが、肥料となり、そこからまた新しい生命が生まれ、TRUNK(HOTEL)の中で「循環」し続けます。
この作品を通じて、普段は目を向けないものへの想像力を巡らせ、当たり前のことや小さな存在の大切さを改めて感じてください
